MICROFILTRATION FOR OPTIMIZING GLOBAL SOUR WATER STRIPPER

In modern oil refineries, the effective management of wastewater is a critical aspect of ensuring environmental compliance and operational sustainability. Sour water, a byproduct rich in hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and ammonia (NH₃), represents one of the most challenging waste streams. The treatment of this water, typically in a Sour Water Stripper (SWS) unit, is essential before it can be reused or discharged.

The performance of the SWS unit is directly dependent on the quality of its feed. Particulate contamination is a primary cause of inefficiency and failure, leading to significant operational and financial consequences.

Aggressive Solid Contamination

Sour water feeds often contain iron sulfide, coke fines, and suspended solids. Without robust pre-filtration, these particulates damage SWS units.

Chronic Heat Exchanger Fouling

Solids bake onto exchanger surfaces, forming insulating layers that drastically reduce heat transfer. This results in higher steam consumption and significant energy losses, impacting plant budgets.

Stripper Column Plugging

Particulates cause tray and packing blockages, increasing pressure drop and reducing stripping efficiency. Severe plugging can demand costly, hazardous shutdowns for manual cleaning.

High Operating and Maintenance Costs

Inefficient filtration leads to frequent replacements, extensive labor, and elevated risk of unplanned SWS outages and production losses.

Applications and Benefits

High-Flow Capacity

Fewer cartridges are needed for a given flow rate, leading to smaller housing requirements and lower capital expenditure.

Multiple Media Options

Provides a large surface area for high dirt-holding capacity, resulting in longer filter life and reduced maintenance costs.

Absolute-Rated Filtration

Delivers reliable and consistent particle removal efficiency for superior process fluid quality and protection of critical downstream equipment.

Direct Retrofit Design

Engineered as a direct replacement for major brands, simplifying upgrades and maintenance operations.

Robust, Chemically Compatible Construction

Sour water is a corrosive environment. Our cartridges are built with chemically resistant materials.

Integrated Handle

Allows for easy, tool-free installation and removal, reducing downtime and improving operator safety.

The large-diameter, pleated design provides a massive surface area, resulting in high flow rates, low pressure drop, and an exceptionally long service life, reducing the frequency of filter change-outs.
